“GMA
pulled out all the stops again to make this awards presentation great,” said
Lee Gluckman, chairman of US International Film & Video Festival of his
October 2016 visit to Quezon City in the Philippines to deliver awards to GMA Network Inc.
More
than 50 on-camera personalities and creative staff, plus the network
chairman were in attendance for the presentation along with their news crew to ensure that each group
of awardees would be seen by GMA’s television audience across the
Philippines. “Alamat,”
GMA’s top prize entry film -- Best of Show and a Gold Camera -- encourages
responsibility among children, and adults as well, through the story of a king
who put himself first while his people went hungry.
GMA
won 10 awards. Winning
a Gold Camera First Place and a nomination for Best of Show was
"Reel Time: Isang Paa Sa Hukay (The
Price of Gold)" in Documentary: Public Affairs Programs. Portraying the Camarines Norte's small-scale
gold mines, the entry examines the extreme poverty of a Philippino town where
underage children dive into incredibly dangerous locations in search of tiny
amounts of gold as they struggle in dramatic poverty.
